A Simple Guide to Buying Yoga Bags – Part 1

Yoga has become an incredibly popular form of exercise. Its benefits are numerous from reducing stress to improving flexibility and tone. There are classes at many local gyms and specific yoga studios have been set up as well to take classes in. One of the only basic pieces of equipment that is needed is the yoga mat, a thin mat that usually has a rubbery texture that is used to provide added traction. Most serious practitioners want their own yoga mat that they take with them to class. Yoga bags combine form and function and having one becomes a necessity for you to carry your mat in.
One of the first things you need to think about is the size of your yoga mat. Most are a fairly standard size but there are mats which are extra large or are thicker and heavier. This can influence which bags your mat will fit in and is an important consideration when you are selecting the bag that you will buy.
There are many different styles of yoga bag on the market today. These range from a basic sleeve style bag that fits over a rolled mat. These usually have a shoulder strap and some have handles as well. These are usually the most inexpensive style of bag and can be an excellent way to store and carry your bag.
Another style is a cargo style bag. These allow you to transport your yoga mat and any other items you might need including props, a change of clothes, or other workout gear. These can be great if you are planning on taking a yoga vacation or if you need to transport more than one mat at a time.
